depression Free: Ask me How!
About Ameenah
I've worn many hats. I'm a retired nurse who has spent more than 25 years in many areas,
including health coordinator for a home for teen mothers and their babies, the Coordinator for HIV program for women, as well as a counsellor for a battered women’s program.
I've also worked in the adult prison system and teen girl residential programs. I was a
certified family and divorce mediator who mediated over 250 mediations for the court system as well
as a mediation coordinator for a middle school mediation program in Boston.
In 1995 my self-published book “A Wise Woman Once Told Me” allowed me to begin speaking
to groups and facilitating workshops on self-development and motivation.

I wrote this book to help break the silence and stigma around depression, especially for women like me - strong, spiritual but at times felt like you were carrying the world on your shoulders. I want other women to know that you don't have to stay stuck. You are not alone, and most importantly, you have within you everything you need to heal.

Now, at 71 I'm living a life I once only dreamed of, surrounded by love, laughter, an awesome husband, children, grandchildren and the lasting peace of doing the work. I still shed tears for the son I lost, but I carry him with me in strength, grace and the privilege of being his mom.

I hope my story reminds you that healing is real and possible. Joy is real. And you are worthy of both.
